So, this was announced some 72 hours ago or so (officially, at least) but one of the developers from Terraria has created Chucklefish studios and their newest project is, you guessed it, Starbound. I just have to say after reading up on it, seeing some screenshots, and having dropped 100+ hours into Terraria that this project is shaping up to be one of the greatest things in gaming in a long time.

Obviously, final judgment is still quite a ways off but I’m definitely going to be keeping my eyes on this bad boy up until preorder days (and then dropping any amount of glorious money bits on their wonderful heads). Click-through takes you to their official site/blog and OH MAN am I pumped!

I’m pretty sure that this resurgence of “less advanced” graphics but much more intensive and immersive gameplay is an amazing direction for the gaming industry; I’ll admit that indie gaming is constantly showing up the “big boys” over the past several years. Very few “big budget” games have even come close to the amount of game time I’ve put into the big indie titles that have come out in the past few years. Makes one think a bit ;0)
